How to delete your account and data

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly in the app:

1. Open Don't ForGift and sign in.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Tap Delete Account.
4. Type the confirmation word when prompted and confirm.

If you no longer have access to the app but want your account and data deleted, email enable JavaScript to see contact email from the email address associated with your account and we will delete it on your behalf.

What gets deleted

Deleting your account is immediate and irreversible. It removes:

• All Firestore documents in your user subtree (gifts, attachments, people, relationships, groups, shops, giftPlans, giftPlanItems).
• All files stored in Firebase Storage under your user folder (photos, documents).
• Your local on-device cache.
• Your Firebase Authentication account (email/password or Google sign-in link).

There is no recovery mechanism after deletion.

Data retention

No data is retained after account deletion beyond what Firebase (our infrastructure provider) may keep transiently for operational purposes such as backups, which are rotated out over time. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Using the app without an account? Guest data lives only on your device — uninstalling the app removes it, no request needed.
